9-mm Yarygin pistol is the personal attack and defense weapon and is designed for attacking the enemy at up to 50-m distance range, inclusive of in the second level personal protection equipment at up to 25-m distance.

 

The automation controls are based upon utilization of short-recoil breech blow-back energy. The automatic cycle includes post-shot extraction and seating the next cartridge from the magazine to the chamber.

 

The hammer-type trigger mechanism is with the open hammer and has the capability of self-cocking.

 

The pistol safety is ensured due to the safety mechanism locking the breech and the trigger mechanism both in unсocked and full cock position, as well as due to the half-cock preventing hammer impact when the pistol falls down or when the hammer fails to cock. The safety mechanism is double-sided for the left and right hands.
